“THERE IS NO SAVING ON EDUCATION”
Aydın's mayors from the Republican People's Party issued a joint press release and pointed out that investments in education should not be included in regulations such as savings circulars implemented by the government with the aim of greater financial discipline in the public sector. Saying "There is no savings in education", CHP mayors invited the authorities to facilitate investments that will touch the lives of children.
The following statements were included in the press release published with the signatures of CHP mayors serving in Aydın:
“The economic crisis, which has gradually increased its impact in our country in recent years; As in all areas of life, it causes disruptions in our children's access to their basic needs and enjoyment of equal opportunities and fundamental rights. In this context; Municipalities with Republican People's Party in supporting the basic education needs of our children; To date, it has undertaken dozens of projects such as nurseries, autism and dyslexia centers. However, it is a fundamental necessity not to add provisions that prevent our children, and especially our special children, who can only acquire "self-care" through supportive education, from receiving services to some regulations that aim for more financial discipline in the public sector, such as savings circulars.We, as Mayors of the Republican People's Party serving our people in Aydın province, say; “There is no saving in education”. Because; "We invite all authorities to take action to ensure that the current and new regulations do not include restrictive provisions regarding all kinds of investments in education, to review and remove the statements in the current regulations that can be considered as restrictive provisions, and to facilitate all investments that will touch the life of even a single child."
Making a statement regarding the press release, Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel stated that making savings on basic issues such as health and education could lead to negative social consequences in the long term and said, "As the CHP mayors of Aydın, the work we carry out with the understanding of social municipalism is caught in the savings measures circulars, and economic It increases the suffering of our citizens who are experiencing the crisis with all its oppression. Obstacles to investments that will cause positive changes in the lives of urban residents, especially education and health, should be removed. “We hope government officials will heed our call,” he said.
